If you would like to experience “The Woodstock of Eating,” according to the New York Times, then Smorgasburg in Brooklyn should be the next item to check off on your NYC bucket list! Smorgasburg is a giant food festival which is currently taking place on Saturdays and Sundays at the Willamsburg, Brooklyn waterfront.
This diverse food festival was established in 2011 and has steadily gained popularity over the years. With over 100 food vendors, there is something for everyone. One of the most popular food stands is “Ramen Burger.” Ramen burgers, derived from a chef who combined his love for burgers and ramen noodles, replace regular buns with the noodles. Make sure to get in line early since there is usually quite the wait for this specific vendor. Other foods include gourmet donuts, vegan chicken wings, and any type of taco imaginable!
Smorgasburg will be set up at the Brooklyn waterfront (90 Kent Ave at N. 7 St.) until Saturday, October 29, and will then move indoors to the Brooklyn Flea Market. Smorgasburg has also expanded to other parts of NYC, upstate NY, and even Los Angeles.
Central Park is usually the first NYC park to come to one’s mind, but it is always exciting to venture out into another borough’s greenery. Explore Prospect Park by foot, horseback, bike or kayak. Escape the crowds of Manhattan ice skating rinks this holiday season and try some skating lessons at Lakeside Rink. This park is overall less touristy and crowded which makes for a laid back part of your day.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden also offers another opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for the day. Soon it will be the perfect time of year to see the fall foliage, especially at specific exhibits such as the Cranford Rose Garden and Japanese Hill Pond. The garden is a very vast area, so consider taking a guided tour if it is your first trip there. Hours are 8am-6pm and admission is $12 for adults and $6 for senior citizens.
Brooklyn offers several things to do for all ages, and Martz Luxury is here to help you and your group explore this trendy, up and coming borough.
